4pm: A long, long drive back through Oregon & Washington states to Spokane - our halfway point on the way back home. It was the best part of 12 hours, but of course as it was through for me, mostly virgin territory - pretty fascinating. Highlights were the wonderful Whole Foods store we got our lunch supplies from in Portland!! & then the drive over the high mountain passes of the Snoqualmie National Park in Washington. Very scenic & a beautiful stop-off to observe the snowy peak of Mount Rainier (above). Again backwoods America, we stopped at some very iffy service stations for the never ending kids toilet breaks. The drive then from Yakima, over the high prairie to Spokane along i90 was enjoyable as the sun set over the fields. Man was I tired though by the end of the day.....!
