November 7th

 

3pm. The garden was put to bed officially this afternoon after a couple of hours of mucky mayhem, everything is now packed up & stored for the winter. Soon all this will be under a foot or two of snow.



October 12th

11pm: The first signs of life in the Aerogarden as tiny basil shoots appear!

July 5th

5pm: Summer in full bloom at Wilson way, the rain in recent weeks & now the sudden warmth has worked ownders in our garden!

May 24th

10pm: What better way to spend a freezing bank holiday Monday than at the local garden centre, much money spent on plants that will probably die of frostbite - but you gotta be in it to win it & if by some miracle we have a nice summer, I will have enough produce to start a small market stall - planted today lettuce, basil (under the plastic domes here), carrots, runner/broad/italian beans, lots of different herbs, arugula & others I don't remember. Hours of earthy pleasures in the back yard & front deck..............

April 11th

8pm: Thoughts are turning to the garden, it's still a month at least before you can plant safely outside without snow/frost destroying the seedlings - this is how our garden looks in early April this year, a lot less snow than is normal.

February 18th

8.30am . This innocuous shot is actually a momentous day in the family calendar, it marks the first day in about 4 months that we get sun in our back garden as the sun finally rises high enough to shine over the mountains & forest that we back onto. Here the sun is shining on my little herb patch. From now on we get sunnier & sunnier mornings, culminating in the beautiful mornings we enjoy here in the summer as the sun hits our side of The Valley first & breakfast is taken outside as often as possible. Another momentous day for other reasons, as Charlie was introduced to the potty & took to it like a duck to water - not sure if that figure of speech is the best descriptor, but he seemed to enjoy the new experience anyway.

January 15th

4pm: About 4pm this afternoon the snow started falling, heavily.
