September 20th

2pm: The cold weather continues, I think we've got some snow on the way judging by the low temperatures & the suffocating clouds wreathing the valley (here obscuring the East End of Rundle).

July 24th

2pm: After a week of inactivity I needed to get out & about, we walked from our house to the downtown - hot again & the flora in full bloom. This is by the little bridge over the creek in the park on the south side of the Bow River, actually after 5 years I have no idea what this park is called - you can see the snowless peaks of Mount Rundle in the background!! We ate at our favourite Thai bus and then meandered slowly back - an invigorating walk.

April 20th

4pm: Looking down Wilson Way past our house & up to the magnificent Ha Ling peak & Mount Rundle - what a scorcher of a day, 25C & not a cloud in the sky. I had to go to Calgary for work, I don't think Calgary was as warm as Canmore. Nicky tells me the kids spent most of the day outside - lucky them!

April 10th

2pm: So I went and splashed out on my new Taylor guitar, a neat looking instrument & super excited I headed down Main Street on my way home, I wondered why the town seemed to be at a standstill with people looking up in the sky with cameras & binoculars. Soon it became apparent, helicopters were bombing the peak of Mount Rundle, loaded with the previous 48 hours of snow. The steep slopes overhang the thin ribbon of road that takes you up to Spray Lakes & I guess the avalanche risk was high. Pretty spectacular stuff & as I have my camera with me at all times I got a decent shot of the last avalanche coming down - albeit with the pharmacy in the frame!

February 8th

5pm: On my way to indoor soccer I popped down to our summer pitch to check it out - as I suspected an unhealthy mixture of ice & elk poo covered the dead grass!! Only about 3 months to go before it's warm enough to train & play outdoors....the ice will (hopefully) be gone but we'll still be dodging the piles of elk droppings they kindly deposit around the turf for us!!

January 6th

A bitterly cold (-25C or thereabouts) but beautifully sunny day in Canmore. Here we see Cascade Mountain in the background, the Rundle Range on the left, The main road is the Trans Canada Highway which links Canmore with the town of Banff. It was so cold that I didn't have a lot of time to compose & think about the picture, hence the unsightly cables stretching across the picture!!

January 3rd

Final journey of the Christmas Tree, on it's way to the great pyre growing at Quarry Lake. Ha Ling & Rundle peaks look on impervious.
