5pm: Bear fever continues unabated in The Peaks of Grassi! I haven't seen one, but you cant help looking over your shoulder & the kids are still under strict supervision when it comes to going out!

August 22nd

3pm: Well it seems that there has been all kinds of drama happening in our back garden while we were away. We had heard via the Internet about stories of Grizzly & Black bears feeding on berry bushes in the Peaks of Grassi backyards. Knowing that there were a couple of bushes in our yard, the thought crossed my mind that we could have been one of the aforementioned yards. Well I was right, according to the neighbours we had several bears feasting on the berry bushes & subsequently the Fish & Wildlife Officers had come round & chopped down all the bushes. The results of that exercise can be seen above. My stupid fault for not removing them unfortunately - I should have done this last autumn when the bushes were in bloom & could easily be identified. In the meantime the kids are banned from being in the garden on their own!!

March 19th

4pm: Smokey the Bear, just on the outskirts of Revelstoke, BC. A beautiful but tiring drive back over Rogers Pass & home to Canmore. Smokey can be found guarding a campground near Revelstoke, he's a pretty impressive beast, even if he has been used for target practise by local egg chuckers by the looks of it.
