November 8th
7pm: A day off today & so what am I doing on a plane? Well flying it actually, this was the rather wonderful Xmas present that Nicky had given me last year. A session on the flight simulator near Calgary Airport. An amazing experience as the thing is so life like, it moves around & you actually fly over Calgary, or Canmore or in this case sit on the runway at Vancouver having just landed. I really enjoyed it, great fun at the end when the kids came & joined me - they thought they were actually flying. I had taken a single real flying lesson back in about 1999 in London & loved it, even thought about getting my pilot's license. We ended up taking Tabby for Sushi at the Sushi boat restaurant in Calgary because let's not forget, it was her sixth birthday today!! Tabby had spent the morning in a private pottery making class, i think she enjoyed that as much as I did my aviation experience.

3pm. The garden was put to bed officially this afternoon after a couple of hours of mucky mayhem, everything is now packed up & stored for the winter. Soon all this will be under a foot or two of snow.
November 6th
10pm: A typical evening, kids in bed, Nicky watching TV & me practising the guitar. Simple pleasures.
November 5th
8pm: Guy Fawkes goes up in flames much to the astonishment of the kids & if truth be told our neighbours Chuck & Wendy. I was determined to celebrate a British cultural event & although fireworks are banned & the fire had to be managed very carefully so as not to set the forest a few yards away at the end of our garden ablaze - I got the message home. Chuck & Wendy joined us for a bonfire night meal of Bangers & Mash, the kids had sparklers & for a while we were back in the old country.....

3pm: On my way back along the TC to Canmore on a beautiful November afternoon, I stopped to capture the front range of the Rockies in all their Western movie glory! Yamnuska to the left, if i was mountain savvy I could name the other peaks - I am not & I can't.
November 2nd
9am. Vancouver bound & on the runway at YYC yet again, how many flights this year still more to come! Still a nice day for it.

10pm Sad news today that Danny Baker has cancer, I often listen to his podcasts as I drive about or even do my XC ski laps at the Nordic Centre. He even read out an email I sent to him earlier this year. A very intelligent, one-of-a kind broadcaster, I wish him well in his battles ahead.
